3/5/13: William Von Rex
- Will you say your name, instrument, and what band you play for?
William: Well I go by William Von Rex, and I'm the bassist & back-up vocalist for Modern Day Escape.
- How did you first get involved with the band?
William: Well when MDE needed a bassist to fill in for a tour last fall, they hit me up to play for them. After that i guess you could say they liked me and my playing cause they kept me on board full time! Haha.
William: I'm not mad about it. Haha.
- Haha! That's really awesome!
William: Well I'm happy to be their bassist.
- That's good man! So how long have you been playing for them so far?
William: Since September of 2012.
- Do you know when you guys will be back on a tour and with who?
William: Not exactly in either scenario. But we are looking at a May-June time frame.
- If you could be on a tour with any 3 bands, who'd you pick?
William: Oh man, um well Papa Roach for sure.
- 2 more?
William: And I guess I would say Senses Fail and Atreyu.
- I don't know why. but I could see you guys on tour with ETF.
William: Yeah, they would be another good band to tour with.
- Yeah! So, have you been on tour with the band yet?
William: Yep, tour the U.S. and Canada last Fall. It was a blast!
- Best place you have had a concert?
William: My favorite was this place called Champions in Trenton, NJ. It was just a balls out good time!
- Favorite state you've been to, and why?
William: Honestly man, I gotta give it up to my home state of Nebraska. The weather may be bipolar and 90% of it is farming. But that 10% that isn't is special, along with my friends and my family there!
- Yeah! Haha. Favorite fast food place?
William: Taco Bell fo' show!! That place is tight butthole!
- Everybody says that!
William: Haha, well if it wasn't fast food, I would have said Buffalo Wild Wings. But it's not sadly.
- Yeah For Sure! Do you guys plan on coming to Kentucky?
William: I am sure we will make a stop there. After all, we live in Orlando, FL. So we gotta show the South some lovin!
-Yeah! That'd be sick!
William: Don't worry mate! We'll rock your face off when we do!
- Haha Okay! Whats your favorite color/colors?
William: Neon green or blue.
- Favorite song that you guys play?
William: Well it's actually one we haven't got a chance to play live yet, called Control. But of the stuff we have I'd say Under The Gun.
- I bet your songs get really tiring after you play them so much, am I right?
William: Yes and no. When you're just practicing it can be a drag. But when you are playing it live and the crowd is singing it back to you, it only makes you love them that much more.
- I bet that'd be super fun to do up on stage!
William: Oh yeah!
- Most embarrassing moment for you that happened on stage?
William: Um. I tried to be a hotshot back in High School by doing guitar spins with my bass, when the strap broke and my bass went flying. I had no idea what to do. Fortunately, I had a back up bass to play that night.
- Lucky! Any big time mistakes here recently?
William: Nope..And we are keeping it that way!!
- Lets hope so! Favorite brand of shoe?
William: DC and JUMP.
- I have never heard of JUMP before?
William: They're this straight up legit shoe maker outta New York city. If you want high tops, they're the bees knees.
- What about Supra?
William: Naw. Trust me mate, JUMP is as good as it gets.
- Okay! So do you guys have any new plans for music this year?
William: Well we are shooting a music video this month. Then we will be releasing our new album this summer followed by Concurring the World.
