3/5/13- Pat Moten

- To start off, can you say your name, band, and what you do in the band?

Pat: Well, my name is Patrick Moten and I play lead guitar for Camisado.

- How did you first get involved with the band?

Pat: I first met the band when they played a show at a local venue not far from my house and I immediately fell in love with their sound. A few months afterward I had heard that they needed a fill in guitarist so I messaged Joe (our vocalist) about the position. As it turned out I was unable to fill in for the show that they needed me for but not long afterwards I tried out as a permanent replacement and here we are now!

- That's really cool! Are you happy with your position in the band?

Pat: I couldn't be happier! Music is a very large passion of mine and to be able get out there and play for all our fans and travel the world is an unimaginable feeling. And to be honest I was a huge fan of the band before joining so that made it a bit more exciting for me.

- Would you ever wanna trade places with someone in the band for a day? Just to see how hard or different it is?

Pat: Oh of course! I can play a wide variety of different instruments so I have always thought it would be a fun experience to be able to try out a different spot like vocals or drums, even though I cant play drums to save my life! Haha!

- So you can do vocals? Unclean or clean?

Pat: Actually when I first started playing in bands when I was in middle school I started off as a vocalist. I do prefer to do dirty or unclean vocals as much as possible but I can somewhat sing clean as well. I can carry a tune but I'm nowhere as talented with it as our own vocalist.

- Could you relate your self to another professional vocalist to your sound of screams?

Pat: In my opinion I think I have a very unique style to my voice. I use a lot of different techniques so that as wide of a range as possible. But I have had people tell me before that I sound similar to Landon Tewers of "The Plot In You".

- Who was your music inspirations through middle school, high school, and once you got out?

Pat: When I was in middle school I listened to a lot of Nu Metal. Bands like Korn, Slipknot, System of a Down and Mudvayne were some of my huge influences back then. As I got older and started high school I was introduced to heavier music as well as hardcore and metal-core. I listened to a lot of A Skylit Drive, August Burns Red and Motionless in White during those days. Now that I'm out of school my taste gotten a little bit heavier throwing a little bit of death metal into my ever expanding musical library. As of right now some of my main musical influences are, Job for a Cowboy, Thy Art is Murder, Greeley Estates, and The Devil Wears Prada.

- When did you first start playing guitar?

Pat: I first picked up the guitar when I was about 11. I still remember the first song I ever learned was "Aerials" by System of a Down.

- That's sick! Haha. What was your favorite venue you have been to to play at?

Pat: There's a venue up in Williamsport, PA called The Ground Floor that we just recently started playing at. They take very good care of the bands that play there and always bring in a great crowd.

- Favorite state you have been to so far?

Pat: Definitely South Carolina. But the south as a whole was a great place to tour. There really is nothing like southern hospitality!

- Are you guys gonna come to Kentucky at some point?

Pat: I would sure love to! Our last tour was only a east coast kinda thing but we are working tours that take us a little farther across the US. States like Kentucky, Ohio and Illinois are definitely gonna be some areas we are going to try and swing through on our upcoming tours.

- Definitely Louisville!

Pat: Oh yes! Louisville will be seeing us very soon.

- Let's hope! Or Lexington! Its closer to me haha.

Pat: Don't you worry once we have a Kentucky date you'll be the first to know! haha.

- Sweet! If you could be on a tour with any 3 bands who'd you pick?

Pat: A tour with Motionless in White, Greeley Estates and A Skylit Drive would be amazing!

- That's be a awesome concert for sure!

Pat: Oh yes! A skylit drive and greeley estates both played at the very first show I ever went to and I have been in love ever since haha.

- Too bad MIW wasn't!

Pat: No but they would have made the show for sure! Camisado has shared the stage with Motionless before I was in the band unfortunately but were buddies with a few of them so hopefully we can hop on a show with them in the future.

- Definitely! Do you guys have any upcoming tours or anything?

Pat: We have a few things in the works right now for the spring and summer months. But once April rolls around we plan on doing some extensive touring in the months following.

- Pretty cool! What's your favorite fast food place to eat?

Pat: Taco Bell for sure! I have a weakness for their cheesy potato burritos.

- Every one so far has said Taco Bell!!

Pat: Well I believe that!! Its not fair how good it is!

- Haha. The MIW guys said that.

Pat: I don't think I personally know anyone who doesn't like taco bell hahaha.

- I could probably find somebody!

Pat: They're out there I'm sure haha!

- Are you guys in the middle of writing any new music?

Pat: We'll save any ideas that we may come up with here and there but for now were just focusing on pushing our most recent record, Faceless, which came out in October of last year.

- Yeah! That albums amazing! Where did the song "I am alive tonight" get its inspiration?

Pat: Well thank you! And the basic inspiration behind that song is mostly just living for the moment.

Taking every day like its your last without being afraid.

- That's awesome! What was one of your most embarrassing moments up on stage?

Pat: I broke a string halfway through our set a few months back and had no way of replacing it so I just had to play without it haha.

- Did anyone notice? Haha

Pat: Oh yes I'm sure haha It was a very crucial string for the songs we were playing so I'm sure someone caught it!

- Haha. To finish off the interview, do you have anything you'd like to say to your fans?

Pat: Well, first off id like to say thank you to all of our fans and supporters out there! We do it for all of you and we would be nowhere without you so thank you! And expect great things coming from Camisado in 2013!
